Today was the start of a dream for me. I finally have a professionally designed and managed show that I can call my own. Although I have been on air for several months and have really enjoyed it, there was something definitely missing. AM Radio is fun but the audience is small and shrinking, the real audience in my opinion is social media but that is a big broad medium. Today, I had lunch with an old friend. As to be expected our conversation quickly veered to my radio show, we were laughing so hard the waiter had to come back twice to get our order. The learning curve is never ending in business and in life. As I juggle 2 businesses it is sometimes hard to differentiate the 2. Both require the same basic rules 1) you gotta work hard everyday to get new customers 2) you have to make your clients happy 3) success takes hard work and dedication. In my previous experience in radio I was just tasked with showing up on Saturday and talking into a microphone, it was really fun and easy. Now that I'm in charge, it's really hard work. Why would a person (me) give up his free time, evenings, and Saturdays to start a radio show? All I can say is passion. Passion to express and share my life's experiences. Passion to explore the stories of others and learn from their lives. I'm fascinated by the voyages others have taken, each and every story is a novel waiting to be heard. Hopefully this adventure will pan out and I can build a listener base and get support from enough advertisers to keep it going. I plan on moving into syndication and a podcast in the next few months....
